Senior Fitness

From water aerobics to strength and conditioning classes, active seniors—or those who wish to be more active—can find a wide range of choices to help improve their health and well-being.

The YMCA of Greater Tulsa's senior fitness opportunities include:

Senior Fitness

Flexibility Formula: Exercises and movements for people who suffer with arthritis and/or similar joint discomforts. Participants sit in chairs and use resistance bands, dumbbells, weighted bars, and other equipment for a great workout!

Gold Fit: A cardio class designed for the beginner and the young at heart; combines cardio with weight training.

Senior Strength and Flex: Active older adults use this class to increase endurance and balance through stretching exercises, bands and balls.

Senior Cardio Fit: A cardio class designed for the active older adult.

Slow Impact Fitness: This great total-body workout is for anyone young at heart. The class combines fitness and fun activities that improve cardiovascular health and overall strength, including low-impact exercises like step aerobics and resistance training.

Tai Chi: Movement for Better Balance is an exercise program with no strenuous action, no jumps, no running and no impact. Tai Chi promotes the circulation of chi, or life energy, within the body, and encourages vitality. The feet are rooted to the earth, and the participants’ graceful arms = poetry. This class is excellent to help promote balance, and for active older adults.
