Diabetes Prevention Program

The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program helps adults at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles by eating healthier, increasing physical activity, and losing a modest amount of weight to reduce their chances of developing the disease.

The Program

As a participant in the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program, you will participate in 26 class sessions over the course of one year that cover topics like healthy eating habits, physical activity, stress management, and getting better sleep.

Your Lifestyle Coach and classmates will provide a supportive community for you to begin making lifestyle changes that will reduce your chances of developing diabetes.

There will also be additional opportunities to explore healthy cooking methods and group fitness classes with your cohort.
